Flags will be flown at half-staff

Gov. Scott Walker has issued an executive order calling for flags in Wisconsin to be lowered in remembrance of the shootings in Arizona Saturday.

Walker ordered that the Wisconsin state flag and United States flag be flown half-staff at all buildings, grounds and military installations in the state where flags are flown from Jan. 10 until sundown Jan. 14.

The governor also observed a moment of silence at 10 a.m. Monday at the beginning of his cabinet meeting.

"Our prayers continue to be with Rep. (Gabrielle) Giffords and those injured as well as the families of Judge (John) Roll and others who were killed," said Walker in a prepared statement. "The horrific events in Arizona should cause us all to pause and examine how we treat others, not just in politics, but in life."

Federal prosecutors have charged Jared Lee Loughner, 22, with five federal crimes, including the attempted assassination of a member of Congress, for fatally shooting six people and wounding 14 others Saturday morning.
