New Richmond was part of the North team that took a 14-11 lead into the ninth inning, only to see the South rally for four runs in the final inning to win 15-14 on Saturday.

New Richmond was represented in the game by manager Ryan Stephens, shortstop Mitch Paquin and outfielders Jon Will and Curt Kleinschmidt.

Stephens worked all 20 players on his roster into the game. Because several of the North teams sent him young players, instead of their top players, the North team was left at a disadvantage late in the game.

The North team got behind by four runs early in the game. The North team then rallied for nine runs over the next three innings to take the lead.

Will was one of the North’s offensive leaders. He reached base three times on a double and two walks and he scored twice.

Paquin was one of the defensive standouts of the game. He was part of five double plays that were turned by the North squad.

After not playing at home for nearly a month, the Millers will play at the friendly confines of Citizens Field twice in the upcoming days.

The Millers will play at home on Friday against the Osceola Braves at 7:30 p.m. This game has become a traditional event as part of New Richmond’s Fun Fest celebration and usually draws one of the Millers’ largest crowds of the season. The Millers will play another SCVL game next Wednesday, hosting Menomonie at 7:30 p.m.
