Free dental services offered for children
New Richmond Dental will be providing free dental services to local qualifying children from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1.
The annual Give Kids a Smile event has been in existence for about 10 years. Last year, more than 44,800 dental team members nationwide participated in Give Kids a Smile.
The event brings together dentists who provide free, desperately-needed dental services to local qualifying children from underserved families. This event is part of American Dental Association's Give Kids a Smile Program.
According to Amy Cahanes with New Richmond Dental, an estimated 60 children ages 3-12 will receive services Friday, Feb. 1, at the local clinic. To qualify, children must be without dental insurance or on BadgerCare/Forward.
Seven dental volunteers will be part of the local effort.
Nearly one in four children, aged 2 to 11 years old have untreated cavities in their baby teeth, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many children enrolled in Medicaid receive no dental services throughout the year.
Give Kids a Smile is held annually to:
provide free dental services to local, qualifying children from underserved families.
raise awareness of the epidemic of untreated dental disease occurring here and across the country.
raise awareness of the need to build local public and private partnerships to increase access to oral health care to solve this crisis.
Parents who want their children to receive services are asked to call New Richmond Dental at 715-246-2227 to answer a few quick questions to see if the children qualify. If they qualify, an appointment will be made.
New Richmond Dental is located at 1367 Campus Drive, New Richmond.
