GM plant at Janesville ends production this week
The General Motors' plant in Janesville will shut down for good this week.
About 100 workers have stayed around to finish an order of a small to medium duty trucks for Isuzu. But that work will end on Thursday and most of the employees will be laid off then.
A few others will stay on to help with the plant's final shutdown.
About 1,200 General Motors employees were let go last December when the company ended its SUV production.
A team of state officials has given GM an incentive offer to re-tool the plant to make smaller cars but the company's future is in doubt.
Chief executive Fritz Henderson says the automaker might file for bankruptcy, if it cannot meet the conditions of a $13 billion government loan package.
