Golf Cave finds new home at Gibby's Lanes

Jamie Gibson of Gibby’s Lanes and Scott Cole of The Golf Cave (l-r) have combined forces with their businesses. They are pictured next to one of the golf simulators in use at The Golf Cave.

When the building housing The Golf Cave sold in April, owner Scott Cole spent the summer searching for a new location for his business.

Several years ago, Cole and Jamie Gibson of Gibby’s Lanes talked about placing golf simulators at Gibby’s. The timing wasn’t right then, but it is now. The banquet room in the back half of Gibby’s Lanes is the new home for The Golf Cave.

Cole moved his business into Gibby’s Lanes on Dec. 14. It will remain open until the New Richmond Golf Club opens in the spring.

Golfers can hone their skills on two swing simulators in use at The Golf Cave. Cole is also installing a large net that golfers can hit balls into for practice. Cole gives golf lessons, using the simulator to help adjust golfers’ swings and then having them hit balls into the net. He also videotapes the swings. He said this has become a valuable tool in helping golfers see the alterations that need to be made to their swing.

“The simulator gives a lot of feedback on the path of your swing. It’s a pretty good learning tool,” Cole said.

Teaming up with Gibby’s allows Cole to offer complete bar services. Gibby’s recently remodeled the banquet room to include a full bar and several televisions.

Access to televisions will also be worked into the competitive offerings for The Golf Cave. Cole has golf leagues available, starting in early January. Last year there were 24 two-man teams in the league and he’s hoping for more this year. With the TV access, golfers can watch the PGA tournaments. And they can also play the same courses as the PGA tournament on the simulators.
