Great Rivers starts accepting calls

Beginning Jan. 3, individuals in Barron, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, St. Croix and Washburn counties who need assistance with FoodShare, BadgerCare Plus, Medicaid, Family Planning Only Services or Caretaker Supplement should contact the Great Rivers Consortium to apply for benefits, get information about benefits, and report changes.

The consortium was organized as part of Wisconsin's effort to centralize services and improve efficiency of program delivery.

The organization's contact information is: Great Rivers Consortium, toll-free phone number: 1-888-283-0012; Fax: 1-855-293-1822; Online: access.wi.gov.

Individuals seeking in-person assistance should call the Great Rivers Consortium for the nearest location. In order to improve customer service and manage public assistance programs in a more cost-effective way, the Department of Health Services has worked with counties and agencies to form groups called consortiums. There are a total of 10 consortia across Wisconsin.

This change does not affect enrollment or the benefits members receive.

Access to services will remain at the same level. For more information on the changes visit: http://ww w.dhs.wisconsin.gov/em/IMR/index.htm.
