Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2; 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4; 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9; and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.

“Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brother and sisters,” cast member Jean Gfall said of the musical’s main character. “The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self discovery and along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing.

“The story of Ugly is one we all know, from our own experiences as much as from this wonderful story. Each of us has felt marginalized at some point in our lives, teased as a child, the last one to be picked for a team, the ‘black sheep’ of the family or a physical disability.

“Along life’s way we have opportunities to change the world in some significant way, however small that may seem to us at the time. ‘Honk!’ is the effort of the cast and crew to lift up the worth of each person,” Gfall said.

With that in mind, the cast and crew of “Honk!” chose three organizations to which “Honk!” profits will be given: St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice (scvrjp.org), Bikers Against Child Abuse (bacaworld.org) and Midwest Special Services (mwsservices.org).

Most of the cast and crew are from Cross Lutheran in Roberts but include members from River Falls, Hammond, Baldwin, Hudson and the surrounding area. Most have never been on stage or involved in theatre before.

Gfall said local businesses generously donated materials and services so the profits to the three organizations can be substantial. Tickets are $11 and are available at Roberts Grocery, The Barn Board and at Cross Lutheran Church. Cross Lutheran Church is located at 1246 County Road TT in Roberts.
