Horse Rescue volunteer training this Sunday
SPRING VALLEY--A training session is scheduled for people wishing to be new volunteers at Refuge Farms Horse Rescue and Sanctuary in Spring Valley this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Both the indoor and outdoor portions on this day will be offered at Refuge Farms, 3035 Hwy. 29, just east of Hwy. 128, east of Spring Valley. Those interested in attending the session are encouraged to dress in layers for both the indoor and outdoor portions of the program.
Volunteers are needed for care of the horses and grounds, fundraising and assisting with the equine-assisted therapy program, Horses Helping. Horse experience isn't necessary and those wishing to work in capacities not related to horses (such as grant writing, marketing, event planning and office work) are welcome. Those ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering.
Topics to be covered at the orientation include the history and missions of Refuge Farms, areas where volunteer help is most needed and expectations of volunteers.
Those interested in attending can download and complete an application from the website Refuge Farms
in advance (under "volunteer information" in the lower, central portion of the home page), and indicate their intent to attend by calling (715) 772-3379.
