Howard Albert William Kleinschmidt

Howard Albert William Kleinschmidt, 65, of Cumberland died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Luther Midelfort Northland in Barron. He was born Oct. 21, 1943 in Cumberland, Wis. to Arthur and Clara (Jeska) Kleinschmidt.

Howard was married to Susan Legacy on Feb. 17, 1968 in Turtle Lake and they later divorced. In 1986, he began a lifelong relationship with Caroline McWilliams.

He is survived by Caroline McWilliams; two daughters, LaDell (Steve) Anderson of Cumberland and Jodi (Chris) Mathwig of Burnsville, Minn.; son Jerry (Darlene) Kleinschmidt of Comstock; two stepsons, Greg (Paula) McWilliams of Vadnais Heights, Minn. and Gerald (Tina) McWilliams of Cumberland; one stepdaughter, Deanna (Tim) Bunker of Valirco, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl (Eunice) Kleinschmidt of Turtle Lake, Jerry Kleinschmidt (Gloria Thill) of Almena, David (Nancy) Kleinschmidt of New Richmond and Danny Kleinschmidt of Cumberland; four sisters, Dorothy Topper of Trego, Bernice (Clarence) Sellent of Almena, Anna (Jon) Owens of Comstock and Betty (Wayne) Butzler of Cumberland; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cumberland, Wis. with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wis.

Pallbearers were Keith Kleinschmidt, Quintin Kleinschmidt, Ryan Bunker, Gary McWilliams, Terry Topper and Rod Davis. Honorary pallbearer was Keegan Kleinschmidt. Military honors were accorded by Almena VFW Post #8512 and the Wisconsin State Honors Team.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland.
