Injuries reported from car vs. truck accident on Hwy. 63

A two-vehicle accident closed Hwy. 63 for several hours Thursday morning, May 5.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the 900 block of Hwy. 63, north of Baldwin, at about 4:30 a.m.

A 2007 Kenworth milk truck, driven by Mitchell Anderson, 36, Glenwood City, was southbound when it collided with a 2011 Toyota Van, driven by True Vangh, 46, Rosemount, Minn. The Vangh vehicle had been traveling north.

The sheriff's report indicated the collision occurred in the southbound lane of travel.

Vangh was ejected from the van and transported to Regions Medical Center in critical condition. There was no indication of safety belt use on his part.

The front-seat passenger in the van, Nkajlo Vangh, 54, Rosemount, was also transported to Regions Medical Center in serious condition. Nkajlo was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A third passenger in the van, Julianna Vaghn, 4, was transported to Gillett Children's Hospital. The extent of her injuries is still unknown. There was no indication that Julianna was wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash.

Mitchell Anderson was treated for minor injuries at the scene by Baldwin Ambulance personnel and released. He was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

Hwy. 63 was closed for five hours while the accident was being investigated. The crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Baldwin Police Department, Hammond Police Department, United Fire Department and Baldwin Ambulance.
