John Oldenburg, 90, of New Richmond, Wis., died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 14.

John was born March 16, 1923 in Hewitt, Minn. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene; daughter, Marsha (Mike) Garske; son, Wayne (Chris) Oldenburg; grandchildren, Cassandra Oldenburg, and Ashley Garske; brother, Harry Oldenburg; sister, Ida Johnson; and many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and one brother.

He worked for the railroad for 20 years and Friday Canning for 14 years. He loved gardening, bowling, horseshoes, camping, fishing, playing cards, and going to the casino.

Special thanks to Adoray Hospice and all of their volunteers for assisting John, so he could stay at home until his passing.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m Thursday, March 20, at Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond, and also Friday from 10-11 a.m. at church. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery at a later date.
