Jump Start the school year
New Richmond students might have an opportunity to jump start their learning if the district can gain enough interest.
"We're investigating an August jump start program to give students an opportunity to get into the swing of things," Jess Ferguson, coordinator of curriculum and instruction, told the New Richmond Board of Education on Monday.
The program, which is tentatively scheduled to start Aug. 10, will give students 10 days of instruction before the school year starts on Sept. 1.
"We're excited for this to be another opportunity for our students," Ferguson said.
Letters to parents were sent on Monday, she said. The letters are due back on July 29.
"This is something new," Ferguson said. "It's not something we've ever done before but we're excited at the opportunity."
The jump start program, if successful, will be considered an extension of summer school, said Morrie Veilleux, superintendent.
Parents interested in the district's jump start program should contact the district offices at 715-243-7411.
