Darren Kern is replacing himself as the Director of Pupil Services for the Somerset School District.
Kern resigned his position in Somerset a few weeks ago to take a similar position at the Osseo (Minn.) School District.
Kern said he had second thoughts on the decision to leave Somerset almost immediately.
"It was a tough decision to go. Once I was gone, I realized I wanted to be back in Somerset. Sometimes you know something is home and you want to be back there," Kern said.
Kern said there wasn't anything at Osseo that caused him to second guess his decision. In his first year in Somerset last year, Kern started a number of programs, including getting the School District into a national Autism study group.
"There were things that I started here that I wanted to see through," he said. "The District is doing so many good things and I really love the community. There was a hole when I left."
