Late corn harvest continues in Wisconsin
A late corn harvest continues in Wisconsin. About 67 percent of the state's corn-for-grain was taken off the fields as of Sunday. That's 8 percent more than a week ago, but it's still well below the norm of 95 percent for this date.
Farmers have been waiting as long as possible to harvest the corn, to let it dry out after it got above normal moisture. Meanwhile, some counties now report muddy field conditions.
About one-fifth of the state's farm fields have surplus moisture. Meanwhile, the winter wheat planting is almost done. And 89 percent of it has emerged.
Sixty percent of the wheat is rated good-to-excellent.
