Late-winter weather packs a punch
The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Chanhassen, Minn., issued a winter storm watch effective 6 p.m. Monday-noon Tuesday for south central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin.
Snow has been falling in the New Richmond area all day, with some accumulation.
The predicted snowfall of up to six inches could result overnight as temperatures dip and an expansive area of low pressure pushes up from west Texas.
Travelers are advised to be aware of the potential for heavy snowfall during the watch period.
The office predicts continued precipitation - a mix of snow, rain and sleet through early Monday afternoon with a high of 35 degrees.
