Learn to row with the St. Croix Rowing Club
The St. Croix Rowing Club will offer in June and July Learn-to-Row classes that introduce adults (18 years and older) to the sport of sculling (rowing in a boat with two oars). No previous rowing experience is required. Classes meet at SCRC's Boathouse, on the west-end of St. Croix Street, in Hudson.
One session starts June 16 and another July 14; either one of the $250 sessions will include 12 hours of on-land and on-water instruction spread over four days.
Veteran coach and rowing official, John Cavanaugh, will teach the classes along with several SCRC volunteer instructors. Learn-to-Row graduates may become members of SCRC for a discounted rate. The St. Croix Rowing Club provides opportunities for recreational rowing on the St. Croix River as well as competitive rowing in regional regattas.
Registration is now open for the space-limited classes. To register, go online to www.stcroixrowing.org and click on the Learn-to-Row link. Participants must be competent swimmers.
