Lightning strikes, burns shed to ground
An empty shed in the Town of Richmond was struck by lightning, caught fire and burned to the ground on the night of Wednesday, Oct. 2.
"It was an older dilapidated shed that got struck by lightning," New Richmond Fire Chief Jim VanderWyst said. "I imagine it was a 10-by-10 small, old wooden shed, and it burned it to the ground. It was half falling down in the first place."
Firefighters were called to the scene near the B Dalton liquor store south of the City of New Richmond just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday and again at just before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.
"The renter on site noticed flames again and called us out, so we went out and dumped more water on it," VanderWyst said.
