Little Miss candidates vie for Ox Cart title

Ox Cart Days in Star Prairie is just around the corner and candidates for the community's royal court are lining up to vie for the various crowns.

Eight young girls have declared themselves candidates for this year's Little Miss title. They all will participate in the Miss Star Prairie pageant on Sunday, Aug. 23, as the new court is named. The coronation is set for 4:30 p.m.

Following is a list of the candidates and some biographical information about each. Little Miss candidates must be between the ages of 5 and 9.

Maryssa Doriott, 5, is sponsored by Star Prairie Tree Service. Her parents are Mike and Jessica Doriott and her siblings are Patricia and Michael. Maryssa attends kindergarten at Starr Elementary. Her interests include swimming, riding bike, climbing trees, playing webkinz and making pictures.

What would you like to be when you are older: "A doctor like Dr. Reichert."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "I think it will be fun to wear a crown and dress."

Alannah Burke, 9, is sponsored by Russell's Sport 'n Bike. Her parents are Eric and Cathy Burke. Her siblings are Eden, Garrett, Mason and Miles. Alannah is home schooled and is in the fourth grade. Her interests include playing with friends, animals (especially dogs) and movies.

What would you like to be when you are older: "Vet."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "I think it would be fun."

Rachel Gust, 8, is sponsored by Just For You Hair Salon. Her parents are Jeff and Amber Gust. She is in the third grade at Starr Elementary. Her interests include dance, Girl Scouts, roller blading, math games and reading.

What would you like to be when you are older: "O.B. nurse or dance teacher."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "To hang out with my friend, Alannah Burke."

Shae Behiveau, 9, is sponsored by Star Prairie Tool Company. Her parents are Rich and Michelle Behiveau and her siblings are Bailey and Samantha. She is in the fourth grade at Starr Elementary. Her interests include math and playing outside.

What would you like to be when you are older: "A vet."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "Riding on a float and to visit different places."

Samantha Behiveau, 9, is sponsored by Star Prairie Barber Shop. Her parents are Rich and Michelle Behiveau and her siblings are Bailey and Shae. She attends the fourth grade at Starr Elementary. Her interests include reading and swimming.

What would you like to be when you are older: "A vet."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "Want to ride on the float and visit different places."

Ellie Sager, 6, is sponsored by Fonda's Bar and Grill. Her parents are Corey and Megan Sager and her sibling is Brady. She attends first grade at St. Mary's School. Her interests include dance (been in dance for four years at Dance Explosion), art, music, playing at the park and being with family.

What would you like to be when you are older: "I want to be a music teacher or a dancer."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "I want to wear a pretty dress and make new friends."

Felicia Kwak, 9, is sponsored by Greaton's Jewelry. Her parents are Jim and Tabatha Kwak and her sibling is Kayla. She is in the third grade at Paperjack Elementary. Her interests include golf, piano, swimming and reading.

What would you like to be when you are older: "Teacher."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "Because I think it will be fun."

Brenna Ellison, 6, is sponsored by Wisconsin Cabin Keepers. Her parents are Robert and Melanie Ellison, and her siblings are Patrick, Justin, Nathan, Rowan and Brynn. Brenna is home schooled and is in the first grade. Her interests include horses, art, riding bike, science, math and exploring.

What would you like to be when you are older: "A cowgirl and an artist (illustrator)."

Why are you interested in running for this title: "So I can ride a float in the parade and be in front of people (I don't do that much)."
