Llamas race in Hammond

Llamas lingered around Hammond, stopping often to pose for pictures.

Sunny skies, 80-degree temperatures and llama racing. That makes for a nice September afternoon in Hammond.

The 13th annual Running of the Llams was held on Saturday, Sept. 12. Several heats of racing llamas stomped down Davis Street. Kolton Zinn and Cutie Pie, Amery, took first place. Following in second was John Larson and Michael "Papa Dweeb" Blue took third. State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf even raced a llama down the street.

New this year was Rib Fest on the Friday night before the event, and a charity pancake breakfast on the following Sunday.
