Local Girl Scouts host Sunday family fun day
On Sunday Mary Park will be home to the first ever Family Fun Day at the Races, which is hosted by the New Richmond Girl Scouts.
The Fun Day event is a fundraising effort by the Girl Scouts and will help pay for volunteer training, maintenance, programs and other financial needs of the organization.
Family Fun Day at the Races will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 26 with three different races -- Wooden Derby, Cardboard Box Relay and Match Box Cars.
Prizes will be awarded for the most creative cardboard box car and most creative wooden derby car.
Each individual who comes and races will receive a participation ribbon.
The event is open to the entire community. A fee of $5 is required to enter in one or all three of the races.
For more information about the races, contact Michelle Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Girl Scouts fundraising effort helps underwrite the costs associated with the program. Their biggest fundraising effort, the Girl Scout cookies, cover only a portion of what's needed annually to run the program.
