Kelly captured ninth place in the 2012 WIAC women's race at the Cole Acres Golf Course in Cuba City. UW-Platteville hosted the meet.

Kelly has been a strong finisher in each of her four years running in the WIAC meet for UW-Oshkosh. Last year she placed 13th in the meet. The year before she finished 20th. As a freshman, she placed 11th.

"I was pleased, happy to end my career in the WIAC with my best individual finish," Kelly said. "I knew I could place in the top 10, but was striving for all-conference honors in the top seven."

Kelly and classmate Christy Cazzola gave Oshkosh a strong 1-2 tandem. Cazzola became the first woman to win three straight WIAC championships, covering the 5,000 meters in 21:16. Kelly finished ninth in 22:35.

Kelly was one of two New Richmond natives running for UW-Oshkosh at Saturday's WIAC championships. In the men's race, Jerrod Berget finished in 43rd pace as the fifth Oshkosh runner. Berget finished the 6,000-meter course in 26:18.

A number of other area runners competed in the WIAC race. Monica Emerson of Somerset ran for UW-Eau Claire in the women's race. The Blugolds won the women's team championship. Emerson was the 10th Eau Claire runner, finishing 64th overall in 24:22.

St. Croix Central had two runners competing on Saturday. Anna Langer was the 10th finisher for the UW-River Falls women. She placed 67th overall, in 24:30.

Central graduate Derrek Pedersen was also running for UW-River Falls. He was the seventh Falcon finisher, placing 71st overall in 27:12.

Osceola had several runners competing in the meet. They were led by Katie Rydeen, who placed fifth in the women's race in 22:17. She was the top finisher for UW-River Falls.

Another Osceola grad in the women's race was senior Kristen Jasperson of UW-Superior. She placed 60th in 24:13 as Superior's fourth runner. She also received a meet Sportsmanship Award.

Running in the men's race from Osceola were Andrew Rohlman of UW-La Crosse and Race Rolling of UW-River Falls. They finished almost side-by-side, with Rohlman 85th in 27:41 and Rolling 86th in 27:43.

St. Croix Central graduate Brett Johnson helped the UW-Milwaukee men's cross country team take third place at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday in Kenosha.

Johnson was UW-Milwaukee's sixth finisher, placing 30th overall in the race with a time of 26:33. Johnson is a freshman for UWM.
