Mortgage office matches clients with products
A mother-son lending team is striving to better serve mortgage clients in the fastest growing county in Wisconsin.
Beth Stenzel and Roger Stenzel recently joined the Wells Fargo Home Mortgage office at 228 Paperjack Dr. in New Richmond.
Beth Stenzel previously worked as a realtor in the region, and was in banking since 1990.
Roger Stenzel is a 1998 Somerset High School graduate and 2003 University of Wisconsin-Stout graduate with a degree in psychology and business.
The local office deals with everything from refinancing to first-time homebuyers to reverse mortgages to debt consolidation.
"We have a full mortgage product line," Beth said.
With rising rates, the mortgage business has become more of a challenge recently, she said.
"It's a little bit more challenging to find the right kind of products for people," Beth said. "We spend a lot of time with clients getting to know their needs and matching them up with the right product."
To educate their clients about the various options for financing, Well Fargo offers regular seminars on such topics as home buying or credit counseling. The local office also provides monthly seminars for real estate professionals concerning current trends and new financing products in the industry.
"We want to help keep them all up to date," Beth said.
Even though the mortgage business has slowed down nationally over the past two years, Beth said the county's booming economy ensures that there is plenty of work to do.
"It's not as fast as it used to be, but it's still a healthy real estate market here," she said.
One thing that has kept business hopping is the rise in home purchases by investors. Beth said about 40 percent of the mortgages they negotiate today are for rental properties.
"It's kind of an amazing fact," she said. "Investors are realizing the real estate market is a good place to put their money."
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage's office in New Richmond is a satellite office of the Hudson branch. Other satellite offices are located throughout the region, including Menomonie and Red Wing.
The New Richmond office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and by appointment at other times.
