Narveson has career-high 10 strikeouts as the Brewers edge Cubs
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 last night at Miller Park. Chris Narveson had a career-high 10 strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings.
The former reliever gave up one run on four hits, as he improved to 2-0.
Trevor Hoffman earned his 35th save.
The Brewers only had five hits, but they made the most of them.
Prince Fielder hit his 42nd homer, a two-run blast.
And Jody Gerut had a solo shot for his 10th hit in his last 17 at-bats.
Cubs' starter Jeff Samardzija took the loss, and fell to 1-3.
The former Notre Dame football player was making his second career start. Samardzija gave up all three Milwaukee runs in five innings, and he got his first big league hit with a solo home run.
The Cubs remain 7.5 games back for the National League Wild Card with 11 to play. The Brewers ended a two-game losing streak.
Tonight, Milwaukee will open a home series against Philadelphia.
