Justin Walter Nelson, 24, Roberts, was ordered to post $5,000 cash bail June 18 in an initial appearance on felony burglary and misdemeanor theft and criminal damage charges. The charges resulted from the investigation of a burglary complaint at the U.S. Postal Service office.

The criminal complaint said a search warrant on Nelson's residence in connection with the investigation of the fire at the school in Roberts May 2 turned up two cash drawers in a shed on the property.

A Roberts postal official identified the drawers as those taken in a burglary April 18.

Nelson was also charged with a burglary between March 29 and April 4 at the Family Hair Studio following further investigation.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 27 along with a pre-trial conference in the arson case. Nelson is accused of felony arson, criminal damage and burglary and misdemeanor possession of THC in the school fire incident.

The fire caused more than $1.5 million in damage.
