Nemec honored as Wisconsin Athletic Director of the Year
Brad Nemec, athletic director of Somerset High School, was selected as the Wisconsin Athletic Director of the Year for 2010.
The prestigious award was presented during the 44th annual Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Workshop in Wisconsin Dells on Monday.
Almost 400 athletic directors from all around Wisconsin, plus nearly 90 vendors from the state and Midwest, were on hand for the annual convention, held each fall.
Nemec received a plaque to honor his selection as the organization's top AD award recipient during the WADA Awards Luncheon. In addition to his duties in Somerset, Nemec has also been the vendor coordinator at the annual convention of statewide athletic directors.
Nemec is the first athletic director to receive all possible WADA awards as an active athletic director. He is also the second person to receive the Athletic Director of the Year twice in his career. He received the honor for the first time in 1996.
Nemec has been a teacher, coach and athletic director for 33 years, including the past 25 years in Somerset. He has also served as the municipal judge for the past 20 years.
Nemec has announced that he will be retiring from his athletic director post in January.
"For many years I felt like I had the best job in the state," Nemec said. "The big thing is to be consistent and treat people with respect and dignity. That's what I've tried to do."
