Somerset played its first game of the season on Friday. The Spartans shook off some early-game rustiness to blast St. Croix Falls 75-39.

New Richmond was led Friday by senior Joe Deppe, who scored 31 points. The game was forced to a second overtime when New Richmond senior guard Isaiah Hobbs hit a three-pointer at the buzzer ending the first overtime.

Somerset was up by more than 20 points at the end of the first half on Friday and the Spartan reserves got most of the playing time in the second half. Senior guard Tyler Ledbeter scored 14 points to lead a balanced Somerest attack.
