The New Richmond City Council voted 5-0 to eliminate the position of economic development director during its meeting Monday.
The post, currently held by Jerry Brown, was ended effective Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The City position only lasted less than a year, as Brown was hired to market the community to prospective businesses.
Brown was previously handling that task as president of the New Richmond Area Economic Development Corporation, a public-private partnership in the community.
But City officials indicated they wanted to bring the marketing function in-house, effectively changing the way the NRAEDC would operate in the future.
The Economic Development Corporation continues to function, with a part-time, paid president, Paul Mayer.
