New Richmond man injured in Highway 36 crash this morning

A New Richmond, Wis. man was seriously injured this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 3) when the car he was driving slid beneath a semi trailer near the intersection of Highway 36 and Manning Avenue in Stillwater.

Robert Postma, 37, was transported to Regions Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. No one else was hurt. In all, three cars and one semi truck were involved in the accident, which occurred at about 6 a.m.

The Minnesota State Patrol was investigating the incident. As of late morning, few details were available.

Witnesses to the accident aftermath said the vehicles were traveling west on Highway 36. The semi was hit from behind, with cars colliding behind it.

Police radio reported that Postma suffered "multiple injuries" and might have suffered a broken arm and severe injuries to one of his legs.

Motorists reported delays on Highway 36 shortly after the accident. By 8 a.m., the road was cleared for traffic.
