New Richmond Millers' clash with Osceola rained out
The highly anticipated matchup between the New Richmond Millers and the Osceola Braves was washed away Friday night.
The heavy rains that rolled through the area on Friday afternoon made it impossible to get Citizens Field ready for the game.
"It was probably the worst I've seen it," Millers manager Ryan Stephens said of the rainfall at the ballfield. He said there was standing water nearly everywhere on the field. Even worse were the areas along the edge of the field. Water was knee-high in the visiting team dugout at the height of the storm.
The New Richmond-Osceola clash will be moved back two weeks. It will be played at Citizens Field at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27.
The Millers have a busy schedule this week as they near the end of their regular season. On Wednesday the Millers play at Haugen at 7:30 p.m. in a non-league game.
The Millers resume their St. Croix Valley League schedule this Saturday. The Millers will play at Osceola's Oakey Park in a game that begins at 7 p.m. The Millers will play at home on Sunday. They face East Bethel in a double-header at Citizens Field, with the games starting at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
