New Richmond Relay for Life begins Friday, June 13, at high school track
The American Cancer Society 2008 Relay for Life begins Friday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at the New Richmond High School track.
The two-day event will end Saturday, June 14, at 2 p.m.
Walkers and well-wishers are encouraged to come and stay for the weekend. There will be free camping areas available around the track.
This year is the New Richmond Relay for Life's 15th anniversary and the theme is "Hollywood."
The relay begins at 2 p.m. on Friday as does the luminaria sale and silent auction. Kid's games will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 710.
Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. with a welcome from Patty Berger, invocation by Father Jim Brinkman and the National Anthem sung by Bethany Morris.
The VFW Post 10818 Color Guard will present the colors and honorary co-chair Stephanie Karno will be introduced.
The survivor ceremony and reception will be held and "Hollywood Couples" will be introduced at 8:45 p.m.
The luminaria ceremony will be at 10 p.m. followed by an introduction of honorary co-chair Rich Swanson.
Activities continue through the night until breakfast is served at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
More activities and games are planned for Saturday ending at 2 p.m.
