New Richmond softball loses regional final; track athletes headed to sectionals
The New Richmond softball team saw its 2014 season come to an end on Thursday in the WIAA Division 2 regional championship game.
New Richmond finishes the 2014 season with a 15-8 record.
Track athletes from all over the state are converging on WIAA sectional meets this Friday.
New Richmond will be competing at the WIAA Division 1 sectional meet at Stevens Point. That meet will be held at Georke Park, beginning at 3:45 p.m. New Richmond will be competing in four events at the sectional meet.
Somerset and St. Croix Central will be competing at the Bloomer Division 2 sectional meet. The meet will be held at the Bloomer Middle School, with a 4 p.m. start time. St. Croix Central will be competing in 17 meets at the sectional meet and Somerset will compete in 15 events at the sectional meet.
The second meeting between the New Richmond and Somerset baseball teams will take place on Friday. Friday's game will be played at Somerset's Larry Forrest Park, beginning at 5 p.m. New Richmond won the first meeting between the two local rivals, 7-4, when they met on May 20.
New Richmond's Nick Bradish is headed to the WIAA state tennis tournament for the third time in his career. Bradish finished third in the one singles flight at the Eau Claire Memorial Division 1 sectional tournament to earn his spot in the state tournament field. His opening matchup for the state tournament will be announced over the weekend.
