Newsletter, business breakfast offered by city
Officials with the City of New Richmond are trying to open up the lines of communication with residents and local businesses.
Under the leadership of new City Administrator and Utilities Manager Mike Darrow, the city has instituted a new e-newsletter that will be distributed on a regular basis. The first issue of the newsletter was emailed out to community members last week. The newsletter included stories about upcoming events, business happenings and more.
In an effort to communicate better with local businesses, the city is also planning a "Business Breakfast" from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 20.
The event will be held in the City Council chambers and will be hosted by Mayor Fred Horne and Darrow. The local officials say the purpose of the meeting is to gather informally and discuss business opportunities and growth in the city.
"It's a great networking opportunity," Darrow said at Monday's City Council meeting. "We want to let business owners know we're here to help and serve you."

* The council voted to pay $7,750 for a hotel feasibility study if a developer eventually builds a 40- to 50-room hotel in New Richmond. Grandstay Hospitality LLC and several local investors are looking at possibly building a multi-story complex in the city in the coming months or years. Prior to building, however, the business wants a market analysis completed to see if the region would support a new hotel. The study would be completed, with the cost being reimbursed if the developer ends up building here.
