Norris Samb, 55
Norris John Samb, age 55 of Baldwin, Wisconsin, died suddenly Monday evening, July 13, 2009, at his home in Eau Galle Township.
Norris was born April 15, 1954, the twin son of Johnnie and Gladyce (Jacobson) Samb at Baldwin. He grew up at Spring Valley, where he attended school, graduating with the Class of 1972. After high school, he attended Red Wing Vo-Tech for truck driving. He drove for a number of years and most recently was rural carrier for the Post Office at Roberts and New Richmond.
Everyone who knew Norris knew of his love for music and how much he loved to visit. For many years, he helped many people as a volunteer driver, taking dialysis patients to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, and helping many Veterans by driving them to the V.A. Hospital. He was a Union Steward for the Roberts Post Office and served on the Financial Committee for the State of Wisconsin Rural Carriers. He also enjoyed antiques.
Preceding him in death were his mother Gladyce in 1984; sister Gretchen Narum in 1986; and his twin brother Nolan, who died just 4 months ago.
Survivors include his wife Pauline of Baldwin; daughter Marti Samb of River Falls; grandson Nathaniel Rasmussen; his father Johnnie Samb of Woodville; other relatives and friends.
Memorial visitation was on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home in Spring Valley. A memorial service was on Friday, July 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, with Rev. Andrew Hinwood officiating. Linda Anderson was organist and Charlotte Wentlandt was vocalist. Special music was also provided by Marti Samb and Joey Layer. Norrie had said that the honorary bearers were "anyone who called him friend."
