In the second round of the tournament Post 80 faced another tough team from the La Crosse area, Holmen. New Richmond led 8-2 heading into the seventh inning. Holmen rallied for five runs, but Post 80 held on for an 8-7 win.

Nick Swystun earned the pitching win. He pitched quite well until running out of steam in the seventh. Jared Kidder made a diving catch in rightfield to record the final out of the game.

New Richmond faced Cochrane-Fountain City in the third place game on Sunday. C-FC is one of the remaining WIAA summer baseball programs. Post 80 was able to notch a 12-4 win to get third place.

Josh Leavens earned the pitching win against C-FC. Michael Jansen supplied a home run in this game and Swystun hit the ball well all weekend.

After the tournament, Post 80's season record stood at 17-3.

Post 80 also notched two wins last week. On Tuesday Post 80 defeated Amery 11-0. New Richmond's boys pounded the ball all over Amery's field and Jansen pitched the shutout.

On Wednesday Post 80 played at Prescott, which has been strong all summer. Post 80 was able to earn a 4-2 win in the game. Jake Zajkowski pitched the first five innings of the game, with Leavens working the final two innings of the win.

Jansen, Riley Kannel and Dan Leavens represented New Richmond on the South team of the American Legion All-Star Game in Osceola last Thursday. The South won the game 4-3. Jansen pitched the seventh and eighth innings and ended up being the winning pitcher in the game. Kannel played infield in the game. Leavens sat out the game because of an injury.

On Monday Post 80 will play two games against Ellsworth at the Hager City field. Post 80 will finish its regular season with a game at Grantsburg next Tuesday.

Post 80 has been awarded the honor to host the Legion regional tournament. The winner of the regional will advance to the Legion state tournament. River Falls, Menomonie and Spooner will be the other teams in the regional, which will be played at Citizens Field on July 24-26.
