NR students get physical
Children enjoyed an active night at the "Let's Get Physical" class held Tuesday, Jan. 17, conducted indoors due to falling temps.
The winter session kicked off with an introduction to pedometers. Each child received a pedometer to keep, a weekly tracking sheet to record steps for the week and water bottles donated by St. Croix County Youth Activity and Nutrition Coalition.
For the next three classes, children are asked to bring in the tracking sheets for discussion and a possible incentive prize.
After each one hour workout at the "Let's Get Physical" class, the group has a cool down and a nutrition break. This winter session is offered "free" through New Richmond Community Education and the New Richmond School District, sponsored by the county's health initiative known as "Healthier Together - St. Croix County." It is also supported by the St. Croix Valley Foundation.
