Abrielle Vizenor was selected as this year's winner of the New Richmond Utilities' Public Power Scholarship.
The $1,000 Public Power Scholarship is presented to a high school senior who plans to attend a two-year technical college or a four-year university.
The scholarship program is designed to promote awareness of New Richmond's community-owned utility, increase awareness of the value of public power, and to inform customers about the benefits of their community-owned municipal utility.
"As a municipally owned utility, we believe that providing educational opportunities for promising local students is a sound investment in our community," says Nancy Petersen, utility finance and accounting manager. "We congratulate Abrielle on her accomplishments and extend our best wishes for a successful future."
Abrielle is the daughter of Bob Vizenor and Leslie Kier. She is planning to attend Winona State University.
