Ohio man accused of sexual assault of NR teen
A 22-year-old Ohio man is facing a second-degree sexual assault of a child charge stemming from an alleged incident in New Richmond in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 1.
Officers from New Richmond Police Department arrested Tyler S. Nye, 22, of Cridersville, Ohio, after finding him in a car parked in the Woodland Creek Park neighborhood with a 15-year-old boy, according to a police department press release.
According to the release, at just after 1:15 a.m., an officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood with Ohio license plates and fogged windows. Upon investigating, the officer discovered Nye and the boy inside the vehicle, and that both were undressed and initially laying under a blanket.
According to the release, Nye had driven from Ohio to New Richmond to meet the boy and that the two had a sexual relationship, which began after the two had first met over the Internet.
Officers at the scene seized two cell phones, one laptop computer and one iPad along with a 2008 Honda CRV.
New Richmond detectives are working with authorities from Ohio and the federal government as the investigation continues.
Nye first appeared in St. Croix County Circuit Court on Monday afternoon. He was scheduled to appear again on Thursday, March 6, for a bail/bond hearing. A cash bond of $5,000 has been set by the court.
