Old Gem offers a pioneer Christmas production
"Laura Ingalls Wilder Pioneer Christmas" plays for the public on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m.
A special program of Christmas songs presented by the Old Gem Broadway Melodies class will precede the Dec. 13 and 14 productions.
All grown up with a family of her own, Laura Ingalls Wilder reminisces about her childhood growing up on the American frontier. Laura vividly recounts a lonely prairie Christmas, a harsh winter blizzard, the rush of new homesteaders to the prairie, a Fourth of July horse race and many other remarkable memories.
Through the heartwarming recollections, Laura and her daughter Rose come to understand the value of spending the season with family and friends.
"Laura Ingalls Wilder Pioneer Christmas" is performed by members of the Old Gem Professional Acting Company along with students of the Young Performers Ensemble.
The cast includes members of the Young Performers Ensemble: Brady Hanafee-Major, Artie Knox, Rylee Olien, Haley Viebrock, Liam Mehls and Rachel Franc, all of New Richmond.
Old Gem Professional Acting Company members Rita Tredal, of Roberts, Tom Monn, of Woodbury, and Matt Franta, of Minneapolis, are also part of the cast.
