Old Gem travels over the rainbow March 26 - 29
The Old Gem Theater's Young Performers Ensemble presents "Wizard of Oz" on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m.
Based on L. Frank Baum's classic book, "Wizard of Oz" follows Dorothy, a little girl from Kansas, as she journeys through the wondrous land of Oz.
Along the way she meets the clever Scarecrow, a rusty Tinman and a cowardly Lion along with a host of whimsical monkeys, quirky guards, magical trees and of course, the Wicked Witch of the West.
"Wizard of Oz" features popular tunes including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "If I Only Had a Brain" and "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead."
The cast of "Wizard of Oz" is comprised of students of the Old Gem's Young Performers Ensemble Musical Theater class that meets after school and on Saturdays for about two months to prepare for the show. The Old Gem offers acting and musical theater classes for youth year-round and beginners are welcome.
Actors in "Wizard of Oz" include: Haley Viebrock, Kinsey Novotne, Rylee Olien, Lauren Counter Skoglund, Paityn Deal, Kadie Steiner, Madeline Brugler, Bryce VanBeek, Kian Rohow, Melanie Greeley, Angela Brown, Brady Hanafee-Major, Alaina Kuhlman, Liam Mehls and Madeline Kestner, all of New Richmond.
