Orienteering workshop offered at Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center
BABCOCK, Wis. - Aspiring hikers can build up their confidence by signing up for a May 3-4 orienteering course at the Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center.
The Orienteering: Fun with Compass and Map course involves navigating with compasses, reading topographic maps and practicing on compass courses.
On the second day, participants embark on a cross-country trek of several miles they design themselves.
Individuals need to arrange their own lodging and bring lunches and refreshments. Orienteering compasses will be supplied.
Registration is limited to 20 people.
Lodging is available in the center's dorm for a donation of $15 per person per night, including days before and after the course. Checks should be made payable to DNR-Skills Center.
Registration fee of $35 per person is due April 23 to: Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center, P.O. Box 156, Babcock, WI 54413.
