Packers are not sure if Nick Barnett will start against the Bears in opener
The Green Bay Packers are not sure yet if inside linebacker Nick Barnett will start in the regular season opener on Sept. 13.
The coaches say it depends on his performance Thursday night, when the Packers play their exhibition finale at Tennessee.
Barnett is coming off a torn ACL knee ligament suffered last November at Minnesota.
He sat out the first two weeks of training camp, and has not played in any pre-season games yet.
Defensive coordinator Dom Capers says Barnett has been on schedule with his recovery but he wants to see how his veteran performs in game conditions before putting him on the field against the Bears in the opener.
Barnett says he fully expects to play against the Bears and he's both mentally and physically ready to return.
