‘Peter Pan and Tink’ fly onto the stage
Each summer, the Old Gem Theater presents a show geared for youth groups such as summer camps, day cares, scouts and other community groups.
This year, in addition to appearing at the Old Gem Theater, the summer show will also tour to the Bryant-Lake Bowl as part of the Saturday Play Dates series.
This year’s offering is “Peter Pan and Tink,” an Old Gem Theater original audience-participation comedy. The general public is welcome to attend the shows as well as groups.
“Peter Pan and Tink” is a slapstick comedy. Peter Pan is planning to sail the Jolly Roger to London to visit Wendy until a jealous Tinkerbell comes up with a plan. She helps First Mate Smee take command of the ship by impersonating the ruthless and cunning Captain Hook. When Smee realizes he has to simultaneously navigate the ship as Hook while manning the sails as Smee, mistaken identities, quick changes and hilarity ensue.
The play is filled with humor, swashbuckling adventure and sword fights. “Peter Pan and Tink” is geared toward young audiences but is sure to bring a smile to all. The kids enjoy participating in the show and adults enjoy the antics that happen when the kids help out.
Adapted and directed by Artistic Director Kathy Welch, “Peter Pan and Tink” features Old Gem actors Tom Monn of Woodbury and Cayla Wolpers of Hastings.
Tickets are still just $11 for adults, $9 for children. Some weekday matinees for groups are still available at special group rates. Group leaders can call the theater for details.
Performances are slated for Friday, June 21, at 1:30 p.m.; Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m.; Saturday, July 6, at noon at the Bryant-Lake Bowl; Thursday, July 11, at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m.; and Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m.
