P.J. Hill signs a free-agent contract with New Orleans
Wisconsin running back P.J. Hill has signed a free-agent contract with New Orleans.
Hill, the Badgers' third all-time leading rusher, was one of nine underclassmen who were not drafted over the weekend.
He hurt his chances when he was arrested twice for drunken driving in Madison and Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was training.
Rick Reiprish, the Saints' director of college scouting, says the team is well aware of Hill's background but they want to see what he can do.
Hill will join Wisconsin linebacker Jonathan Casillas at the Saints' early camps. Casillas was not drafted either, and he signed a free-agent deal on Sunday night.
Monday, Badgers' defensive tackle Mike Newkirk agreed to a free-agent contract with the St. Louis Rams.
And Wisconsin defensive tackle Jason Chapman accepted an invitation to be at the Washington Redskins' mini-camp.
