Plans are in the works for a three-acre parcel Matt Mithun of the Somerset Amphitheater purchased in November.

The parcel, located across from the Public Works wastewater treatment plant on Spring Street, was annexed by the village in November. A house, two pole sheds and a barn sit on the property.

“It’s a little early to explain how we’ll use the land,” Mithun said. “We are in the planning stages for an annual event that would take place four weekends in September.”

Mithun, who declined to give details about the event since it’s still in the planning stage, said the event will be a daytime, family-oriented affair. The land will somehow be used in that event.

The Somerset Plan Commission approved rezoning the three acres from ag-residential to highway commercial at its Jan. 2 meeting. The matter will now go on to the village board.
