Position opens on Village of Somerset Board
Ryan Halverson, the newest trustee elected to the Somerset Village Board, will make a formal resignation of his post by Sept. 30.
He is resigning because he and his family will be moving out of Somerset.
Dave Carufel, Somerset resident, voiced his willingness to fill the trustee position during the public comments portion of the board meeting.
The board will decide how to fill the vacancy during a special board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, after they receive the formal resignation in writing.
Fred Horne and Scott Vrieze of New Richmond asked the board for its support in regards to having the county fund 100 percent of the library costs associated with municipalities without libraries. The board decided to give a letter of support.
In other news:
The board approved creating a Complete County Committee for the 2010 Census.
Mike Hanks was approved for the Fire/Rescue Commission.
The board went into closed session to discuss bargaining agreements for the police and public works departments and personnel problems within Public Works.
The Somerset Village Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Somerset Village Hall at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
