Recording industry settles lawsuit against UW-Stevens Point student
The recording industry has settled a lawsuit against one of the University of Wisconsin students it accused of illegally downloading music from the Internet.
Federal Judge Barbara Crabb has approved a settlement in the case of Frank Minervini of Wisconsin Rapids, a student at the Stevens Point campus.
Details were not disclosed.
Record companies accused Minervini of downloading several copyrighted rock songs in 2007.
The industry found out about Minervini after it won a court order to make the UW System turn over the likely users of certain of its Internet IP addresses.
The university provided more than 50 names of alleged illegal down-loaders.
