Ribbon Reapers set to perform
The Roberts Ribbon Reapers 4-H music group will perform Friday, May 23, for Grandparents Day at the St. Croix Central Elementary School at 1 p.m.
The group was chosen to represent St. Croix County at the Wisconsin State Fair this coming August. The county 4-H talent competition was held in early March where they took first place to grab the honor of representing the county at state.
The group will also perform during the new Thursday night activities of Roberts Good Neighbor Days on May 29 under the tent in the park.
"The addition of Thursday to the celebration is a great opportunity to have the people of Roberts see what these 4-H members can do," said Cindy Brown, director of the group. "We have traditionally performed after the parade on Sunday, but so many people are busy after the whole weekend of activities, with parade wrap-up and the demo derby that our audiences have been pretty small. I hope with the community dinner Thursday night and the alumni band and Trigger Happy that more folks will be able to come to the tent, enjoy the entertainment and visit with friends and neighbors for a while."
The group's members range from second graders to high school seniors. Their 15-minute musical presentation includes lots of singing, dancing, instrumentals and laughter for all. It has something for everyone, including a good lesson to be learned.
Brown returns to the group after a "short retirement." She began with the group in 1980, and after 2002 went into retirement from directing the group. She had much encouragement from the children to return, and they in turn have given back by doing a wonderful job of being on top of their game.
You can catch their Good Neighbor Days performance at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.
