Richard Simon, 80
Richard "Dick" Darrell Simon, 80, was born on Aug. 16, 1933, and passed away Sept. 9, at his farmstead in St Joseph Township.
He graduated from New Richmond High School in 1951, and proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Dick farmed 220 acres and had 80 milk cows. The farm was deemed a Century Farm by the State of Wisconsin in 2003. Dick lived life to the fullest. He truly enjoyed dairy farming, retiring in 1996. He then enjoyed raising beef cattle until 2010. Also, he enjoyed attending sporting events of his grandchildren, snowmobiling, hunting, gardening, and listening and dancing to country music with his wife, Angie.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Angeline; and their 8 children: Steve Simon, Joan (John) Pirner, Dan (Barb) Simon, Karen (Tom) Campeau, Ann (Matt) Engstrum, Tim (fiance Jill) Riemenschneider, Kathy (Tom) Earley, and Carol (Carlos) Alvarez; 17 grandchildren: 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, Wis. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home in New Richmond, Wis., and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Boardman Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and remaining grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
