Ricky James Johnson, age 37, of Somerset, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at his home, after a long courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

He was born the son of Kenneth E. and Elfreida F. (Schreiver) Johnson on Oct. 1, 1971 in River Falls, Wis. Ricky was a 1990 graduate of Somerset High School. He grew up working on the Schottler Family Dairy Farm. He also worked for Duro Bag in Hudson and Scientific Molding Corporation.

On Oct. 15, 1994 he was united in marriage to Amy Jo Potter at the Roberts United Congregational Church. They are blessed with two children, Kenneth Daniel, age 11, and Kaitlyn Mary, age 9.

Ricky loved helping his kids with their school projects, working in the yard and a good game of cards.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Johnson, and father-in-law, Daniel Potter.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 14 years, Amy Jo; children, Kenneth and Kaitlyn; mother, Elfreida Johnson of Hammond; four brothers: Steve (Bonnie) of New Richmond, Gary (Rita) of New Richmond, Bruce (Brenda) of Star Prairie, and Joe (Kim) of New Richmond; sister, Lisa Johnson of Hammond; mother-in-law, Jean Potter of New Richmond; sisters and brothers-in-law, Michelle (Brad) Tarman of Osceola, Denice (Wade) Swiggum of New Richmond, Jenifer (Brad) Radinzel of St. Croix Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Ricky was held at 11 a.m. on April 1 at the Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Warren Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at church and from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
