Construction crews for the St. Croix Crossing project spent the past winter working on the on-land piers in Minnesota as well as pier “8” in the river, near the Minnesota shore.

The first concrete form was placed on the western foundation of pier “8” on March 1. The forms were lined with reinforced steel and filled with concrete, allowing the balance of the pier to rise above the water line.

The forms were reinstalled on the two foundations for pier “9” in the river.

A mid-March detour of Hwy. 35 in the Town of St. Joseph has allowed construction crews to excavate and grade the Wisconsin approach of the new Hwy. 64. Footings for the abutments for the new Hwy. 35 overpass have been poured.

The St. Croix Crossing will connect St. Croix County (WI) with Washington County (MN) by mid-2016.
